Abstract

This research purposes is to describe the performance of the academic officer by identifying the causes of academic staff performance and formulate strategies to optimize academic officers. This is a qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The subject of this study was STTKD Yogyakarta Academic Administration Bureau staff consisting of 1 bureau head and 5 staff. The object of this research is the performance of staff/officers of the Academic Administration Bureau of STTKD Yogyakarta. Data collection techniques used primary data that is observations and interviews, and secondary data used documentation. The steps of analyzing data used Miles and Huberman model that is data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing/verification. The results of data analysis show that the performance of academic officers is not optimal caused by some factors. Factors that caused suboptimal performance are there are no measurements of the performance of academic officers as a whole yet, there was no Standar Operational Procedure (SOP) for the distribution of tasks, coordination was not optimal yet and the information system was not conveyed properly. Efforts to improve performance can be done by improving excellent service expertise through training and improving administrative skills so that services are faster and more precise.
