Abstract

The objectives of this study are 1) To identify the factors that cause the performance of investigators at the Bantul Police Criminal Unit not achieved, 2) Formulate a strategy to improve the performance of investigators at the Bantul Police Criminal Unit. The research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach with SWOT analysis. The results of the study are: 1) The factors that cause the performance of investigators at the Sat Reskrim at the Bantul Police to not be achieved is the absence of a special unit to deal with corruption. The task of handling corruption is borne by the criminal unit where members are still charged with the task of handling other general crimes so that they do not focus on dealing with criminal acts of corruption; Both investigators and sub-units do not understand how to handle criminal acts, even they do not understand criminal acts in the law. This occurs because neither the members nor the head of the subnit have handled criminal acts of corruption and have not received training to improve their skills; the absence of a clear plan of investigation / investigation which means that the handling steps are not well planned. 2) The strategy to improve the performance of investigators at the Sat Reskrim Bantul Police is to formulate an investigation and investigation plan that is used as a reference in acting. With clear planning, the actions taken by investigators will be more planned so that steps to complete case files can be carried out more efficiently; provide an explanation of the duties and responsibilities of the sub-division head in supervising members and the authority of investigators that can be exercised. This can maximize the supervisory function carried out by the sub-division head so that the investigation / investigation plan that is made can be carried out properly. In addition, good supervision can minimize irregularities, whether intentional or not; provide understanding to members how to use the investigation budget in accordance with applicable regulations so that there are no more problems with investigation costs that prevent members from taking a series of actions needed to fulfill evidence and case files. Keywords: performance, investigator, SWOT
