Abstract
This research tried to analyze and explan application of the compensation system based on performance at KPP Pratama Wonosari and the reasons for the application of the compensation system based on performance can not improve the performance of employees at KPP Pratama Wonosari optimally. This research was conducted using qualitative descriptive approach. The primary source is obtained by using the technique of in-depth interviews and participatory observation method. Meanwhile, the secondary source is obtained from the study of books, documents and literature related to the research focus. Triangulation methods performed to test the validity of the data. Informants were taken in accordance with the purpose of research. From the analysis of the obtained results that compensation system based on performance are calculated based on grading, award the best employees in the form of bonuses or gifts, and insentive. However, grading activities is not entirely based on the performance of employees as stipulated in the provisions because they are psychological constraints of the managers and the subjective perception of the views of each manager to employees.
